8th Graders: Greeting Card (Part One)

Assalamualaikum, dear 8th graders? How's everything? I wish you all okay. I'm happy to see you at this occasion.

Today's English session. Before we start the activity let's say Bismillahirrohmanirokhim...

Let's learn about Greeting Card!

Example og Greeting card

        Greeting card is an illustrated piece of card or high quality paper featuring an expression of friendship or other sentiment. (Greeting card/ Kartu ucapan adalah potongan kertas yang menampilkan ungkapan perasaan si pembuat katu yang ditujukan kepada penerima sesuai momen tertentu)

        The purpose of greeting card could be: to congratulate, to wish, or to show sympathy for someone’s achievement atau condolence. (Fungsi sosial kartu ucapan adalah untuk memberi selamat, untuk berharap, atau memberi simpati atas prestasi seseorang atau momen dukacita)

       The generic structure of greeting card: is actually depended of design form of the card however the important thing of the card is at least its content of some elements as bellow: (Bagian-bagian teks Kartu ucapan)

1.          Receiver (penerima): to whom the greeting card is send for. Write down the name of receiver if it needed.

2.          Body (isi): the body of greeting card usually consists of interesting words added by substance as the followers. 

        a.    Quote: these word related to the activity (what we saying or wish).

        b.      Picture: the greeting is inserted with interesting picture.

              C.         Expression: using congratulation expression or sympathy card.

3.     Sender (pengirim/ penulis) 

Expressions of greeting card: (Contoh ungkapan Greeting Card)

          There are some expressions can be used in greeting card, such as:

-     Happy birthday!

-     Happy New Year!

-     Happy Lebaran Day!

-     Happy Iedul Fitr!

-     Merry Christmas!

-     Best wishes for you!

-     May all your dreams come true!

-     Congratulation on your wedding!

-     Congratulations on your newly born baby!, etc.

The text is made to inform about something briefly to the receiver since both of the sender and receiver cannot meet each other

- subject (topik/isi pesan)
